Troubleshooting QLogic Virtual Adapter (NPIV)

The following table lists some of the issues that may arise when programming a

QLogic virtual adapter.

Issue Possible Cause Solution

When trying to create a

virtual adapter port,

SANsurfer FC HBA

Manager reports the

error “Duplicate WWN

Detected, try again”

The WWN being assigned

to a virtual adapter port

conflicts with an existing

WWN in the SSAN.

Change the second hex digit of

the WWN in the vPort WWN

Generation dialogue box, OR

Click the Generate button in

the vPort WWN Generation

dialogue box and let SAN-

surfer FC HBA Manager gen-

erate a unique WWN.
